About BC Cancer:

The BC Cancer talent acquisition team develops and leads recruitment campaigns in tandem with British Columbias 10-year Cancer Action Plan. Current campaigns are in the works with the support of the Talent Acquisition Marketing team, and include developing strategies and materials for both national and international recruitment of cancer care specialists, including radiation therapists, physicians, nurses, and other health and admin professionals.

BC Cancer is part of the Provincial Health Services Authority, and is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. It provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia by working with community partners to deliver a range of oncology services, including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care.

What youll do

The Advisor, Talent Acquisition, Clinical Services reports to the Manager, Talent Acquisition (TA), BC Cancer, and holds responsibility to conduct hiring searches, advise leaders, implement proactive recruitment initiatives, qualify candidates and provide relocation expertise. The Advisor is a trusted business partner working with BC Cancer employees and leadership to promote and foster services that enable the team to deliver care services effectively across the province. Daily work includes:

  • Collaborate with leaders to identify needs, planning strategies and search assignments.
  • Recommend the best recruitment strategies, including creative and cost effective marketing.
  • Maintain strong relationships with leaders, HR team members and external organizations.
  • Develop and maintain local, provincial, national and international contacts to source candidate through the development and maintenance of a network of contacts and related databases.
  • Partner with leaders to develop a key talent pipeline for workforce and succession planning using vacancy metrics and other data reporting.
  • Understand the organizational culture and assess candidate fit.
What you bring

Qualifications
  • Education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in a relevant discipline with specialized experience in recruitment.
  • 7 years of recent experience in a health care setting with particular experience in clinical areas, leadership, strategic initiatives and change management.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Experienced in high-volume recruitment, using best practice and effective marketing skills.
  • Work collaboratively with and guide diverse groups and individuals, using effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Take initiative, have solid judgment and can work independently.
  • Anticipate and respond to changing priorities or unforeseen opportunities.
  • Creatively problem-solve and lead a strategic based recruitment service while remaining client focused.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Two Regular, Full-Time Opportunities
Wage: $72,445-$104,139/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidates relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
