With a focus on member service and an in-depth knowledge of the transportation industry, the incumbent works to grow membership, limit attrition, and promote the usage of AMTA products and services. Working collaboratively, our team ensures that commercial carriers in Alberta, and the industries who support them, are connected to the AMTA in a way which provides value to their fleets.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Proactively seek new business or project opportunities in the industry
Promote the AMTA and its products and services to members, industry, and the public
Communicate information and create awareness of the various AMTA programs to Alberta employers
Support the continuous growth of COR, SECOR, and other programs of safety excellence
Promote maximum member retention through regular contact and connection to products and services
Contact potential clients through cold calls and emails
Develop quotes and proposals for clients
Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services
Listen to member needs and pass intelligence to other teams for potential product or service development
Customize product solutions to increase member value
Build long-term trusting relationships with members
Set up meetings or calls with prospective and current members
Stay up to date with new products/services and pricing changes
Support and execute regional meetings
Support and execute Driver of the Month program
Plan and execute committee meetings
Participate in relevant meetings, conferences, and workshops, as required
Work closely with the Marketing, Communications and Events teams to align strategies and leverage designated marketing and communications tactics and collateral
Utilize available resources to maximize value to the association's members
Research key influencers within industry, underrepresented industries, and related industries, and seek out relationships that promote growth for the AMTA
Continually update information in the CRM as contact and conversations with members and prospective members takes place
Provide support and backup when required to CRA
Work closely with the other Provincial Trucking Association to ensure streamlined compliance and membership benefits
Networking with industry safety and leadership professionals
Report to the Manager on monthly activity
Meet or exceed outreach KPIs established by the Sr. Advisor, Member Solutions
Primarily local travel with occasional overnight trips (approx. 15-20%)
Must have Class 5 license in good standing and reliable transportation
Other duties, as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Post-Secondary education in business administration, transportation logistics, supply chain, occupational health and safety (OHS), or equivalent work experience in related field.
A combination of equivalent education and industry experience would also be considered
Professional designations (CTSP, CITT, CRSP, etc.) are considered an asset
Class 1, 2, or 3 commercial driver's license would also be considered an asset
Experience:
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years' experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive, or similar role, preferably in the transportation industry.
Regulatory or compliance roles (NSC, HOS, WCB, OHS)
Safety training, driver development, or people and culture
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and software in general
Proficient in the use of mobile technologies for productivity
Demonstrates the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Innovation and problem-solving skills that include the ability to develop and propose solutions for members
