Job Description

Your Opportunity:

The Interpretation and Translation Advisor reports to the Interpretation and Translation Services Manager and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day service provision and marketing of the Provincial Interpretation and Translation Services Program. The goal of Interpretation and Translation Services is to ensure Limited English Speaking (LES) patients as well as the deaf and hard of hearing patients and heath care providers have the tools they need to understand each other through professional medical interpretation and translation. The role of the Provincial Interpretation and Translation Services Program is to facilitate access to quality interpretation and translation services for Albertans with limited English language proficiency as they access and receive care from Alberta Health Services (AHS). The program ensures patients with limited English proficiency receiving care through AHS have access to accurate communication that supports the foundation of safe, patient-centered care. Utilizing these services enables informed consent from the patient and reduces the risk that language barriers will negatively impact safety and quality of care, and improves patient understanding of their diagnosis and treatment, clinical outcomes, and experience. You need to be creative, adaptable, and prioritize excellent customer service.
