Eastlink is currently seeking an Advanced System Technician to join our team in Goderich, Ontario. The ideal candidate is required to reside in or be willing to re-locate to this management area.
Responsibilities: As a member of an experienced in-field technical team, you will be responsible to identify, troubleshoot and correct service problems in the coax plant for both forward and return paths. Troubleshooting includes any faults found from the mainline through to the customer?s premises, which would impair the operation of Eastlink?s services (Digital Cable, Internet and Telephone). Committed to maintaining our outside plant network in a timely and effective way, you will work towards the ultimate goal of providing the superior services that Eastlink is known for. Eastlink provides in-house technical and safety training as well as training on specific services and duties that will increase with experience to ensure you have the skills to succeed.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a graduate of a recognized Electronics program with relevant industry repair and maintenance experience (Advanced Technicians require a minimum of 5 years? experience). You must have knowledge of Fibre Optic networks and Advanced Technicians must have experience working in a Head End. NCTI or SCTE training is considered an asset. Customer focused and attentive to details, the ideal candidate thrives on the sense of accomplishment that comes from providing our customers the right solution the first time. Committed to fostering a safe work environment, the ideal candidate follows and mentors others in Occupational Health & Safety work safe practices. Able to travel throughout the region, this position requires a valid driver?s license coupled with a satisfactory driving record. The successful candidate will go into the on-call rotation.
You also have the ability to do the following:
Work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, holidays and emergency situations
Manually lift, push and pull up to 90 lbs.
Work in inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain & cold)
Kneel, crouch and work above shoulders on occasion
Work safely aloft from a ladder, pole gaffs, or bucket truck near energized equipment and/or power lines
