Responsibilities
The Mental Health and Addictions Program (MHAP) operates out of various hospitals, clinics, and community locations across the province. It is comprised of specialized teams of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers, Health Promoters, Recreation Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Secretaries, and other members of the allied health and support team.
The Advanced Practice Leader (APL) will be part of the Provincial Center for Training, Education, and Learning (PCTEL) and will report to the Provincial Clinical Leader and Manager of Training and Education. They will also work closely with members of the MHAP that support acute psychiatric services and will collaborate in developing and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing inpatient and acute care services.
The APL will have training and experience in providing the following with inpatient and acute psychiatric populations: mental health assessment; suicide and risk assessment; motivational interviewing; and cognitive-behavioural, dialectical behavioural, and other evidence-based interventions. They will have expertise in providing training and consultation and be familiar with adult learning principles.
The APL will have one day per week (0.2 FTE) for clinical work.
