Pay Range (Annual):
$121,000.00 - $224,600.00
At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company's incentive plans, the Company's financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

The Advanced Package Development Engineer leads and develops key enabling technologies for next generation products. He or she must be a multitasking team player, able to interface with multiple engineering groups in multiple locations. The person should be a detail orientated problem solver that can meet objectives in a fast paced, dynamic environment. He or she will visualize and develop cutting edge concepts, perform fitting engineering analyses, create BOMs and specifications, identify and work with suppliers, develop test vehicles and perform required design verification testing. The person must be skillful in one or more of the following areas: mechanical design, thermal design, optical design, and knowledgeable in statistics. Mechanical or thermal experts must be proficient in thermal, thermo-mechanical stress, and mechanical stress analyses using ANSYS. Optical design experts should be proficient in modeling software such as Zemax. The person should be familiar with packaging of high speed (>100Gb) products. He or she will be an effective communicator able to connect with numerous personnel at various locations. Travel between sites may be required.
ResponsibilitiesLead efforts on developing key enabling technologies for next generation products
Develop designs, engineering models, and analyses
Create proof of concept test vehicles; develop strategies to test and validate proof of concept
Work to generate solid models and drawings for components
Work with the process development team on assembly platform; formulate design/assembly flexibility matrices with other teams for platform based design
Perform FMEAs on parts and assemblies.
Create design verification testing plans qualification plans and engineering work orders (EWO) for initial build activities
Work with suppliers to develop new technologies, if required and specifications for purchased parts
RequirementsMS in ME, physics, or optics, min 5 years experience
Experience with Pro/Engineer / Creo or SolidWorks or Zemax or ANSYS; SQL and Agile preferred
Versed in mechanical or thermal or optical design
Knowledge of statistical analysis
Excellent written & verbal communication skills required
