The Advanced Collision Estimator is responsible for inspecting, assessing, and documenting the extent of damages to vehicles involved in collisions. This role involves developing detailed repair estimates, negotiating with insurance companies, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. A Advanced Collision Estimator also provides leadership to other estimators, ensuring adherence to repair protocols, company policies, and customer service standards.
Salary Range: $56,500 - $66,500 + Bonus
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Inspections
Perform in-depth inspections of damaged vehicles and prepare detailed repair estimates using software such as Qapter or Mitchell.
Determine the extent of damages, including structural, mechanical, and cosmetic issues.
Ensure that estimates comply with insurance company guidelines and industry standards.
Customer Service & Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, explaining the repair process and estimated costs.
Communicate with customers throughout the repair process, providing status updates.
Handle disputes or customer concerns efficiently and professionally.
Insurance Relations & Negotiations
Collaborate with insurance adjusters to review and adjust repair estimates when needed.
Negotiate labor times, parts, and repair methods to meet insurance guidelines and profitability targets.
Shop Management & Leadership
Oversee and guide junior estimators, ensuring accuracy and consistency in estimates.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety policies, and OEM repair procedures.
Participate in team meetings, operational reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Reporting
Accurately document damages, parts required, and repair procedures in the company system.
Maintain records for auditing and performance tracking purposes.
Monitor job profitability, cycle time, and repair quality metrics.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED; additional coursework or training in collision estimating, automotive technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in collision estimating; leadership experience is an asset.
Certifications: I-CAR Platinum or Gold Certification preferred.
Software Skills: Proficient in Qapter, Mitchell, or other estimating software.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of insurance policies, OEM repair procedures, and parts sourcing.

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods during vehicle inspections.
Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to dust, noise, and fumes.
May require lifting objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
