The Adult Educator, Sustainable North: Our Workforce (SNOW) is responsible for curriculum and instructional design, program delivery, assessment and providing meaningful learning experiences for adult learners that support their educational goals in accordance with SNOW project.
The SNOW project focuses on instructional programming that will assist mid-career workers, and interested people, in new and emerging job opportunities that support renewable energy projects in a low-carbon economy. Program delivery focuses on green sources of energy such as Solar, Wind, Biomass, Small-Scale Hydro and Geothermal/Heat pumps.
These customized 20-hour courses will provide learners with basic technical and career information, on their chosen area of study, that supports direct and indirect career and job opportunities through hands on learning and direct applications of new technologies that are meaningful to them. This will be accomplished by delivering these courses at remote mine sites, the communities and regional centers across the NWT including Yellowknife.
SCOPE
Reporting directly to the Program Director of the SNOW program, the Adult Educators are responsible for educational curriculum / program design and delivery of renewable energy programs. This will be accomplished by using customized course program delivery, of the client's choice, at partner mine sites, the communities and regional centers across the NWT in accordance with the goals and objectives of the SNOW project.
NO RELOCATION ASSISTANCE PROVIDED.
TERM
The position is a full-time term position ending March 31, 2028.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Curriculum / Program Development:
Adult educators will develop and implement curricula, program design, lesson plans, and teaching materials that align with the SNOW project learning goals and specific needs of their students.
2. Instruction and Teaching:
Deliver innovative, engaging and effective instruction, using a variety of teaching methods and strategies to facilitate learning, in an inclusive learning environment.
3. Assessment:
Create and administer assessments, using reporting tools to evaluate and record learner progress.
4. Student Support:
Provide guidance, and support to learners, helping them with academic, vocational, career/job/occupational awareness and/or personal matters to foster a positive career transition.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, mines and community partners to ensure educational programs are effective and aligned with learner needs are reflective of the objectives of the SNOW project.
Assist with preparation, writing and presentation of reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
Subject Matter Expertise
: A strong understanding of the subject area (renewable energy) is preferred.
Teaching and Communication Skills
: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are crucial for engaging adult learners. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, in English. Competencies in French is an asset.
Curriculum Design and Development
: Proficiency in designing and developing effective learning experiences for all learners is essential.
Assessment and Evaluation
: Knowledge of various assessment methods and their application for evaluating enabling objectives (EO's) and/or performance objectives (PO's) is essential.
Adaptability and Flexibility
: The ability to adapt to new situations and augment teaching methods to accommodate the diverse needs and learning styles of adult learners is essential.
Organizational Skills
: Strong organizational skills are needed to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
EDUCATION:
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, sciences, adult learning) is required, a master's degree or relevant experience is an asset.
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience or equivalent will be considered.

Environmental Conditions
Most work will be conducted indoors in an office or classroom; however, the job may require some commercial air or land travel to small or remotes sites during arctic winter conditions.

Most work will be conducted indoors in an office or classroom setting; however, the job may require some commercial air travel for work at industrial and/or remote isolated sites.
Mental Demands
This job requires good time management, interpersonal skills and ability to work with tight timelines to meet program objectives. Ability to be positive, flexible, analyze, acumen and be solution oriented is essential

Pay: $55.00-$60.00 per hour
