The Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) has been an animal welfare leader in the Edmonton community since 1907. EHS is a safe haven for thousands of homeless animals each year, providing veterinary treatment, behavioral rehabilitation, care, enrichment and rehoming. Beyond animal sheltering, we engage with the community through various programs and services to support happy, lifelong bonds between people and pets.

The Role

The Level 1 Adoptions Host is the first point of contact for customers, providing friendly and professional service to help individuals adopt animals, as well as assisting with administrative tasks. This position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for potential adopters and ensuring a smooth adoption process.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Customer Service

Provide excellent customer service to prospective adopters, including answering questions about animal care and adoption procedures. Greet clients in person, helping with inquiries and guiding them through the adoption process. Respond to phone calls, emails, and voice mails promptly and professionally.


Administration

Maintain accurate records in Shelter Buddy and Adopets software Review adoption applications to ensure accuracy and completeness


Adoptions

Take high-quality photos and videos of animals available for adoption to update profiles. Book meet and greet and adoption appointments for potential adopters.

Education & Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum three (3) months of reception and/or customer service experience. Computer Skills (basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet) Experience working with animals is preferred

Skills & Abilities

As the ideal candidate, you will have a passion for people, performance and diversity (within the lens of animal welfare). You have excellent communications skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment, and you are comfortable dealing with animals of all species and temperaments.

Compensation:

EHS offers a competitive not-for-profit compensation package which includes a comprehensive benefits package, and a strong work-life balance.

Hours:

40 hours a week; however, is expected to work hours as required to fulfill department responsibilities. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Shift : 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

Schedule: 21 day rotational


40 hours per week
