POSITION SUMMARY



Reporting directly to the Operations Administrator, the Admissions Services Representative is responsible for front-line reception, visitor admissions, and program support at the Sncewips Heritage Museum. This role provides a welcoming, professional experience for guests and community members while supporting operational needs such as bookings, payments, and participation tracking. The Admissions Services Representative also provides backup support for museum tours when the Docent is unavailable, must be confident, and comfortable leading visitors through the exhibit in a culturally respectful and engaging manner.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE




Grade 12 or equivalent A minimum of one year of experience in a reception, visitor services, or tourism-related role Previous experience with Indigenous communities, heritage settings, or museums is an asset Public speaking or tour delivery experience preferred Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends during events Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search with results acceptable to Westbank First Nation Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES



Reception & Visitor Services




Greets and checks in all visitors, Elders, students, and guests in a professional and welcoming manner Responds to general inquiries in person, by phone, and email Provides information about museum exhibits, programming, events, and facility logistics Maintains lobby appearance and ensures promotional materials are current and organized

Admissions & Program Coordination




Operates Moneris terminal and tracks admissions, merchandise, and programming payments Manages group and school bookings, coordinates logistics with the Docent and other staff Maintains accurate daily records of participation, demographics, and special visits Supports cultural programming by preparing attendance forms, name tags, or booking confirmations

Tours & Presentation Support




Provides short, semi-structured museum tours when the Docent is unavailable Ensures tours are culturally respectful and tailored to the audience Assists in welcoming workshop and/or event attendees, researchers, knowledge keepers, presenters, and school groups

Administrative & Team Support




Tracks and submits participation data for reports and grant deliverables Supports the Operations Administrator with reception procedures and documentation updates Communicates visitor or facility issues to appropriate staff in a timely and clear manner Assists with museum events or community outreach as needed Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards, and procedures, and as assigned by the Operations Administrator

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES




Confident, friendly, and outgoing demeanor Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Comfortable using a point-of-sale system and Microsoft Office Suite Must be comfortable speaking to individuals and groups in a public setting Highly organized with strong attention to detail Able to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team Professional, punctual, and reliable Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality in interpersonal interaction Working knowledge of the history of colonization in Canada and its ongoing impact on modern issues affecting Indigenous Peoples Working knowledge in communicating with Indigenous Peoples, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy, and awareness of how language choices can influence and impact conversations

This a part-time position with an average of 25 hours per week.



The median hourly rate for this position is: $30.58
