Your Opportunity:
The SHC has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. Reporting to the Unit Manager - Bone and Joint Clinic, this position is responsible for the day-to-day organization and coordination of a designated Orthopedic Surgeon and their patients. As the first point of contact for patient and / or a referring physician's office, the incumbent must handle a fast pace of work with concurrent demands to arrange clinic appointments, referrals to other clinics, scheduling of further investigative testing and tracking of charts. The incumbent will also support the Surgeon on assigned clinic days. This role functions with minimal supervision and direction from the Unit Manager. You will be responsible to assess, prioritize and synchronize complex physician schedules which may include operating time, outpatient clinic time, call schedule, educational rounds, research/committee meetings, conferences, and away time. As part of your team, you will collaborate with the registered nurse case manager, to liaise with patients & referring providers to schedule & confirm referrals, initial assessments, procedures, follow up appointments, re-bookings and investigative testing as needed. As a successful candidate, you must demonstrate critical thinking, manage time effectively, be flexible to changing team dynamics while being detailed oriented. You should understand organizational policies, have a strong commitment to patient satisfaction, be able to foster and promote teamwork while collaborating to manage and resolve confidential and complex situations.
