Key Activities

This posting is ONLY for youth positions as part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. Only applicants who meet the following criteria for CSJ, as set out by the Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada), are eligible to be considered. The Administrative Support Associate will work with the NAC artistic disciplines education officers and administrator to build and consolidate education contact email lists, consolidate the educational photo library, create surveys and work towards optimizing, organizing and streamlining the Arts Alive digital filing system.
The successful candidate will support the resource revitalization project by finalizing and proof-reading resources used towards the (season) re-launch. The person will provide administrative, marketing, communications, and event support for NAC summer camps.

Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of high school level; University degree in Arts, Arts management, communications, education or a related field will be an asset; or a combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledge of the cultural milieu;
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and organizational skills;
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with colleagues and clients;
  • Ability to follow directions and work with limited supervision;
  • Detail oriented with a sense of initiative;
  • Openness to learn new software; comfortable using Microsoft Office suite;
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English) is an asset.

Who Can Apply

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have self-identified as a member belonging to the Employment Equity group: Women, Aboriginal persons, visible minorities and persons with disabilities.

International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student\xe2\x80\x99s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
