About NOHA
The Northern Ontario Hockey Association is dedicated to promoting and developing hockey across Northern Ontario. We provide governance, support, and programs for minor hockey associations, coaches, and players throughout the region.
Position Overview
We are seeking an
Administrative Specialist
to support the daily operations of the NOHA. This
entry-level
role is ideal for individuals interested in sports administration who want to gain broad experience in hockey governance, risk management, program coordination, and general administration. The successful candidate will work closely with hockey associations, coaches, trainers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and compliance with Hockey Canada requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative support to NOHA programs and initiatives.
Coordinate communications with member associations, coaches, and other stakeholders.
Assist with scheduling, meeting preparation, and record keeping.
Support risk management processes and compliance activities.
Manage and update databases, documents, and online systems.
Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a professional manner.
Contribute to special projects and events as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Post-secondary diploma preferred.
Open to recent graduates; no prior hockey administration experience required.
Experience in sports management, administration, or related fields considered an asset.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with Adobe products is an asset.
Strong general computer skills; ability to learn new software quickly.
Experience with database management is an asset.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of minor hockey operations is an asset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Working Conditions
Based in North Bay, Ontario (standard office environment).
Hybrid work may be considered.
Schedule follows the hockey season (August-May) with possible increased workload during peak periods.
Occasional evening and weekend meetings may be required.
