We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to support the daily operations of our library. This role is essential in ensuring efficient management of resources, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining organized records. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, with a passion for fostering a positive environment for library patrons. Responsibilities



Assist patrons with locating books, resources, and using library services Manage and update library databases for cataloging and inventory purposes Perform data entry and data collection to maintain accurate records of library materials Organize and file physical materials to ensure easy retrieval and proper storage Support research activities by retrieving information from various sources Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and guiding visitors Maintain cleanliness and organization of the library workspace Assist with writing reports, summaries, or other documentation as needed Support the implementation of new systems or procedures to improve library operations

Requirements



Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Excellent communication skills for interacting with patrons and team members Proficiency in computer skills, including familiarity with databases, data entry, and basic research tools Ability to perform data collection and maintain accurate records through typing and filing tasks Good writing skills for documentation and reporting purposes Experience with research methods is a plus but not required Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Prior experience or knowledge of library systems or databases is desirable but not mandatory
This position provides valuable experience in library management, customer service, and administrative support within a professional setting.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9-12 weeks

Pay: $29.17 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week

Work Location: In person
