The Opportunity As Administrative Assistant, Criminal Law Services, your primary function is to provide administrative legal assistance and support to management and the departments. Key accountabilities include, but aren\'t limited to: 1. PROVIDES LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: a) Use knowledge of the court system, criminal, immigration, and family law to review/act on calls and correspondence from the clients, lawyers and other justice system contacts; identify urgent matters and appropriate action/s required; communicate on behalf of managers when appropriate; b) Transcription of legal and other correspondence from managers-lawyers\xe2\x80\x99; c) Communicate as required information about services provided or required with community groups, agencies, lawyers and other members of the justice system; 2. PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: a) Resolve day to day administrative problems by determining the nature of the problem and providing information directly and/or in correspondence; b) Type, format, proof-read, and edit documents in accordance with accepted LABC style guidelines; c) Record and monitor department/project expenditures, correct/report discrepancies, and summarize up-to-date spending on request; d) Maintain department records of timesheets, leave notices, funding applications and contracts; e) Verify and code invoices; f) Organize, train and orient temporary/casual office staff; g) Arrange meetings and/or conferences; contact participants; arrange venue and catering; More About You \xc2\xb7 Grade 12 education supplemented by Legal Administration courses or program \xc2\xb7 Preference for completed courses in Law, Sociology or related disciplines \xc2\xb7 Preference for Administration experience in a law environment, or similar work environment \xc2\xb7 Preference for 1 year of intake experience, or similar experience \xc2\xb7 Minimum 2 years relevant experience as outlined in rated requirements \xc2\xb7 Minimum typing speed 45 wpm \xc2\xb7 Advanced skill in MS Word \xc2\xb7 Intermediate skill in MS Excel \xc2\xb7 Intermediate skill in MS Outlook \xc2\xb7 Basic skill in MS Access \xc2\xb7 Basic skill in MS PowerPoint \xc2\xb7 OR an equivalent combination of education and experience All LABC employees are required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of hire and ongoing employment.
