The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic works with faculties and service units across the university to provide an outstanding education for SFU students and a productive research environment for faculty, ensuring that operational planning and budgeting is fully integrated across the university and aligns with the university's academic and strategic mission. The Provost's Office team leads and supports strategic initiatives and drives operational excellence across the Provost portfolio, striving to provide the best support and guidance for our stakeholders inside and outside of the Office of the Provost.
About the Role
The Administrative Coordinator will support the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic in advancing SFU's academic and strategic mission by providing committee support, coordinating meeting schedules, materials, and follow-up actions to enable effective planning and decision-making. The role will also contribute to operational excellence by analyzing administrative and operational needs, recommending solutions, and preparing research-based summary reports. Through efficient coordination and informed analysis, the Administrative Coordinator will help ensure the Office of the Provost delivers integrated, high-quality support to faculties, service units, and stakeholders across the university.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and proactive, with the ability to think critically about complex issues and identify connections across diverse data sources anticipating potential challenges and proposing solutions before issues arise. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate complex logistics. Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced academic environment and demonstrates discretion, initiative, and a commitment to operational excellence and service. Proficiency with office productivity tools and data analysis will also be key to success in this role.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Arts, Education or a related discipline and two years of related experience, including project management, finance and administration, office operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Ability to work in a highly demanding environment where issues are diverse and complex.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines and work on a number of different initiatives concurrently.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and work cooperatively and effectively with others.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to summarize complex information into reports.
