Sugar Cane Archaeology (SCA), an Indigenous company wholly owned by Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), is seeking an
Administrative Assistant
to be based out of our corporate office in downtown Williams Lake. A rapidly growing professional cultural resource management (CRM) services provider, SCA is currently staffed by a team of archaeologists, project managers, HSE professionals, and a crew of 15-20 seasonal field technicians.
For the Administrative Assistant position, we are looking for a highly skilled and energetic individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills. The role is intended to carry out administrative, financial, and logistical functions on behalf of SCA while providing effective, professional, and timely support to clients, colleagues, and sub-contractors.
This is a full-time, contract position with the opportunity to transition to a full-time, permanent position based on performance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with administrative tasks, corporate priorities, financial management, contracting, and project planning.
Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings, answer telephone and electronic enquiries, and relay calls and messages.
Assist with corporate and project logistics, including purchasing, scheduling, and making necessary travel arrangements or reservations.
Assist with invoice preparation, distribution, follow-up, and accounts payable.
Assist with meetings as requested, including preparing meeting documents, recording minutes, assisting with presentations, and making necessary arrangements.
Assist with corporate community engagement, educational outreach, and public media, including scheduling and attending presentations, communications, and outreach.
Assist SCA Management Team with personnel and project-related administrative tasks, including scheduling, electronic communications, and business meetings.
Assist with data compilation, report preparation, and background research for corporate presentations, research projects, and reports.
Contribute to the ongoing success of SCA by completing other duties as required.

Knowledge of corporate financial processing including accounts payable, cheque requisitions, invoicing, and purchase orders.
Knowledge of general administrative functions, including communications, financial management, marketing, public media, and corporate workflow.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all circumstances.
Familiarity with computer software programs including Adobe, Excel, Quickbooks, and Word.
Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Interest in archaeology, cultural resource management, Indigenous cultural heritage, or natural resource management is an asset.
Qualifications:
BA or BBA in Accounting, Administration, Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
If no BA or BBA, 1-2 Year College Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Administration, Business, Human Resources or a related field preferred.
If no BA, BBA, Diploma, or Certificate, High School Diploma with equivalent experience will be considered.
A Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract is required.
Working Conditions:
The position is 35 hours/week in an office environment.
Job duties may require travel around town and to worksites to complete assigned tasks.
Job duties may require lifting up to 25 pounds.
Non-standard hours of work, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required based on corporate and project needs.
Travel may be required as part of the role.
