Job SummaryThe University of Victoria School of Nursing is a leader in undergraduate and graduate nursing education and research in partnership with different educational, community and practice organizations. The School offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) to prepare nurses to work with individuals, families, and communities, guided by health promotion principles. The BSN program is delivered through a collaborative partnership with colleges in British Columbia (Camosun College, College of the Rockies, and Selkirk College) and the Northwest Territories (Aurora College). The School of Nursing also offers two graduate degrees: a PhD in Nursing and the Master of Nursing Degree with four options: (Advanced Practice Leadership, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator, and Double Degree in Nursing and Health Informatics).The School is situated in the Faculty of Human and Social Development (HSD), a multi-professional faculty with a commitment to the student experience of dynamic learning in extraordinarily rich practice and community setting for vital impact on health and social development.This position is the main point of contact for all undergraduate program inquiries and assists with interpreting university, faculty, and departmental level undergraduate policies and procedures. This position works closely with and provides administrative support to the Undergraduate Student Advisor. In collaboration with the Undergraduate Student Advisor, the position coordinates the applications and admissions process, registers BSN students in required nursing courses, and provides a significant amount of information management related to the students\' academic experience from the start to completion of their program. This position also works closely with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs and Partnerships as well as the Registrar offices here at UVic and at the College Partners sites. This position provides committee support to the School\'s Indigenous Initiatives Committee and support with data management for the School\'s sessional lecturer pool. This position also participates in the organization and coordination of the undergraduate student orientations and may participate in a variety of program information sessions and career fair events as required.Job RequirementsExperience:Must have a minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in a similar position, preferably in a post-secondary or institutional environment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational and advanced administrative skills with knowledge of relevant best practices.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and resolve tasks and/or problems by exercising judgement and innovation and employing critical thinking and/or analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize a large workload and deal with frequent interruptions
  • Exhibited excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills depending on audience
  • Demonstrated ability to display professionalism, courtesy, and empathy, in maintaining the confidentiality of highly personal and sensitive information
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, university, external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret, manipulate, export, and input data within database systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with computer applications (i.e. MS-Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, content management systems, Sharepoint, Survey tools, virtual conference technology).
  • Demonstrated experience using University systems or other large complex computer applications/systems (e.g., Banner, AIRS, FAST Student Reporting) is an asset.
Specialized Knowledge/Education:Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
