Job Summary:




The Administrative Assistant at CancerCare MB (CCMB) will be responsible for providing high level administrative support to the Research Support Office (RSO). The incumbent will support the intake of research projects, coordinate CCMB's process to assess the Departmental impact of new research projects (impact review), coordinate pertinent documents associated with the impact review, and support tasks related to day-to-day operations of the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute.




This position will also be responsible for providing administrative support to the Manager, Research Support Office and the Manager, Research Administration and Operations.




This Administrative Assistant will prioritize, organize tasks, utilize administrative systems and programs to provide administrative support that enhance the overall department efficiencies.




Qualifications:


•Education •

• Post secondary diploma/certificate in administration, health sciences or post secondary degree in Science is preferred.






•Experience •

• 3 years experience of administrative support and assistance working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple, competing priorities.
• Experience in research or health care environment is preferred.


An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.




•Skills and Abilities •


• Ability to handle multiple projects; work independently and efficiently.
• Ability to coordinate and work with a multidisciplinary team
• Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate events and meetings
• Strong organizational, prioritization skills, & attention to detail.
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Visio)
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to work in several competing priorities simultaneously.
• Knowledge of Biosafety processes and regulations is considered an asset.
• Experience working with biological and chemical reagents.






•Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations •


• WHIMIS and biosafety training complete or the ability to complete the training within the first three months of employment.






•Physical Demands and Working Conditions •

• Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items






•Other •


• Must have satisfactory employment record.
• Must be legally able to work in Canada.
• Ability to speak French is preferred
