Nature of the Position Provides administrative support, in a confidential manner, to the Detachment Commander (NCO i/c) as well as administrative and operational support to the detachment in general. Provides front counter service and phone response to the public and operational support including but not limited to data upload in PRIME, TSMIT (Traffic Services Management Information Tool) and CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) maintenance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid RCMP reliability security clearance as a condition of employment.
Essential Competencies Applicants must have Grade 12 (or equivalent), a one year Administrative Assistant Certificate program at a business school or college (or equivalent training), and a minimum of 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience providing clerical support, preferably in a policing, legal or emergency services environment, or be able to demonstrate an acceptable combination of knowledge, skills and progressively responsible experience.
Applicants must have a high level of proficiency with MS Word and Excel and be detail orientated. Other requirements include the ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, a high rate of keyboarding (50 words per minute or faster), the ability to offer excellent customer service while working in a team-oriented environment and the ability to multi-task and prioritize a varying workload with shifting priorities.
Preferred Competencies A high degree of proficiency with various policing databases such as PRIME, PIRS, CPIC and experience using WavPEDAL, TSMIT, computerized and manual records management is preferred. Knowledge of RCMP policies, procedures, terminology, court processes and confidentiality considerations is also preferred. Candidates who have obtained the RCMP enhanced security clearance will be given priority. If not already held, the successful applicant will be required to complete the RCMP\xe2\x80\x99s enhanced security clearance. . Working Conditions This is a unionized position within the BCGEU. Salary for the position is set at Grid Level 5, $29.21 - $32.45 per hour, plus an attractive benefits package. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
