Job Description


This is an independent and detail-oriented position, that requires the capability to work with diverse business units outside of the home agency.
The person within this position is expected to carry out specialized and complex data management assignments in order to facilitate the search, assessment, and dissemination, of information and intelligence products to a broad range of law enforcement and government agencies in support of the mandates of CISA (Criminal Intelligence Service Alberta), and ALERT (Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams). They are also required to work closely with the RCMP Intelex Unit K Division in facilitating the exchange of information between various law enforcement agencies and the RCMP, responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Accessing thirty-four (34) databases: includes law enforcement and government agency Records Management Systems (RMS), and database systems that are currently available to CISA, whether directly or indirectly, while ensuring the requirements of confidentiality and \xe2\x80\x9cthird party\xe2\x80\x9d are maintained.
  • Prepare and develop completed information packages to requestors and ensuring copies are retained to conform with Access to Information (ATIP) and Freedom of Information (FOIP) legislation.
  • Review, develop, and disseminate information and intelligence bulletins to law enforcement, government, CISA Analysts, and CISA partner agencies as required.
  • Direct the transfer of information from outside agencies for upload to ACIIS (Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System), as needed.
  • Review of any Alberta Gaming Liquor Cannabis (AGLC) GIN (Gaming Information Network) bulletins that may be required by CISA Analysts.
  • Operate multiple computer systems on a daily basis employing various software systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
  • Adhere to the regulations for the administration of both ATIP and FOIP requests as they pertain to files held by CISA.
  • Maintain CISA Operational/Administrative Information Request completed packages, hardcopy and electronically, and spreadsheets, adhering to retention policies as outlined in the CISA and CISA INTELEX Combined Procedures Manual.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible, diversified office and administrative experience.
  • Ability to work independently within policies and objectives, in an integrated environment.
  • Resolve problems involving the interpretation of established regulations or procedures within multiple agencies.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and \xe2\x80\x9cthird party\xe2\x80\x9d information on a routine basis with a high degree of judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to recognize politically sensitive issues and bring matters of priority to the attention of senior managers.
  • Ability to make independent decisions relative to coordinating requests for actions from multiple agency resources.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills to balance and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Exercise initiative and judgement in achieving the desired results.
  • Knowledge of the purpose, organization, polices and procedures governing CISA.
  • Ability to adapt to changing office technology.
  • Ability to answer difficult inquiries; explaining regulations and procedures for multiple agencies in an integrated environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to the benefit of CISA, ALERT, and their clients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, 0800 \xe2\x80\x93 1600 hours Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.Salary Range:
21M, Salary Grade: 014, $31.25 - $39.15 (Hourly), $2,109.80 - $2,642.80 (Biweekly), $55,067.02 - $68,977.80 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.General:
