About the Opportunity

The Health Transformation Office was established in April 2022 to work with and support health system partners to deliver on government\'s strategic plan: Action for Health. In particular, the office is focused on helping ensure implementation of a set of priority initiatives that are foundational to the transformation of Nova Scotia\'s healthcare system.

The Health Transformation Office is jointly led by Nova Scotia Health and the Department of Health and Wellness (DHW), and works with partners within Nova Scotia Health, IWK Health, Emergency Health Services (EHS), Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care (SLTC), Office of Addictions and Mental Health (OAMH), and Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment (OHPR) and other related government departments, to coordinate and collaborate across the health system to:

  • Support leaders in creating a more ready, reliable, and responsive heath system
  • Be a source of truth on transformation and ensure transparency across the system
  • Bring system-wide focus to transformation priorities
  • Improve coordination across transformation initiatives
  • Work with initiative leaders and sponsors to identify initiative acceleration opportunities (e.g., sprints)
  • Coordinate resources and funding required for initiative success
  • Support health system culture change
  • Help ensure system leaders have the capabilities to sustain transformational change
  • Ensure change management is integrated in all efforts
  • Coordinate consistent, clear communication about transformation
About the Opportunity continued

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Senior Director, Health Transformation by effectively coordinating the day-to-day activities to support the System Workforce Health Human Resources (HHR) Transformation Initiative. The position coordinates all administrative activities, establishes administrative procedures and guidelines and acts as a liaison with the administrative assistants within the portfolio and across the health system. The Administrative Assistant provides leadership within the portfolio in terms of all administrative activities, procedures and guidelines to enable consistency and standardization across the portfolio. The position is responsible for the development and mentorship of other supportive roles within the portfolio. This position provides additional support to individuals, committees or working groups as assigned, as well as supports other members of the Health Transformation group on occasion. This position works closely with the lead for the HHR Initiative, VP Clinical as well as Executive Assistant of the Vice-President, providing back up as required and supporting the Leadership Team as required.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Post-Secondary diploma in a recognized office administration, business administration or secretarial program
  • Undergraduate degree is an asset
  • International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) certification is an asset
  • The Administrative Assistant requires a minimum of 5-7 years\' of progressively responsible experience, providing administrative support and office coordination at the executive level, preferably within healthcare and within an integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, prioritizing and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated competencies requiring advanced skills and abilities in all facets of modern office practices and technology and with information and meeting technologies.
  • Experience utilizing technology in meeting planning to create efficiencies and streamline tracking and retrieval of information.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$23.57 - $29.65 Hourly
