Administrative Assistant, East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP)



Regular, Full-time Sessional (10 months per year)



Late August to Late June Annually



Duties:

Reporting to the Dean of Health and Human Services, the Administrative Assistant plays a key role in supporting the East Kootenay Teacher Education Program (EKTEP), a collaborative initiative between the University of Victoria (UVic) and College of the Rockies (COTR). This position provides direct administrative and operational support to the Manager of Teacher Education and the Faculty Lead, serving as the primary point of contact for the program. Key responsibilities include:

Managing day-to-day administrative tasks and communications Handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Supporting program development and maintaining high standards of quality Coordinating schedules, meetings, and documentation Facilitating effective communication among students, faculty, staff, and external partners Applying strong organizational and interpersonal skills to ensure smooth program operations

Qualifications:

Office Administration certificate specializing in administrative assistance or a comparable credential and at least two years of relevant administrative experience. A demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially strong intermediate-level Excel and Word ability and comfort; excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The incumbent will work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities are critical. The role also demands strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and negotiation skills, along with a proven capacity to work effectively as part of a diverse team.

Salary: Position #47


As per the CUPE Salary Schedule and Collective Agreement, Pay Level 4 $3,901 to $4,688 per month.


Days and Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm Mountain Time
