Purpose of the Role
The Admin Support Worker - Child Care provides administrative and organizational support to the Child Care team within the Child Welfare department. This position ensures timely, accurate, and confidential handling of case-related documentation, scheduling, and inter-team coordination. The role is critical to the effective operation of child care and placement services and contributes to culturally safe and accountable service delivery in Treaty 9 territory.
Core Responsibilities
1. Administrative Support for Child Care Team
Assist Child Care Workers and Supervisors with case documentation, file updates, data entry, and scheduling
Support the coordination of child placements, appointments, visits, and transportation logistics
Maintain up-to-date case files and documentation in accordance with CYFSA, agency policies, and confidentiality requirements
2. Communication and Records Handling
Liaise with caregivers, families, and internal teams to confirm and relay schedules, forms, or service changes
Process and track internal forms related to child expenses, supplies, and program supports
Support the tracking and organization of critical documentation including health records, plans of care, and placement agreements
3. Office and Team Support
Assist in the coordination of team meetings, child wellness check-ins, and group activities
Maintain inventories of child care supplies, program materials, and administrative forms
Provide general office coverage and administrative continuity in collaboration with broader Admin Support team
4. Team and Agency Participation
Participate in staff meetings, seasonal service planning, and cultural engagement events
Collaborate with Admin Support Workers across departments to maintain consistent administrative practices
Support staff onboarding and orientation for new workers within the Child Care program
Required Qualifications and Experience
Certificate or diploma in Office Administration, Indigenous Studies, Social Services, or a related field; or equivalent lived/professional experience
Experience in administrative support in a child welfare, education, or social services setting
Knowledge of child care case documentation and understanding of service coordination in a First Nations context
Strong time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort working with confidential records and electronic databases
Equivalency will be considered. Familiarity with Indigenous child care systems or lived experience in caregiving is a strong asset.

Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License
Access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel occasionally within the region
