Position Summary:
Footprints Healing Centre (FHC), a NNADAP Indigenous treatment program, is seeking compassionate, adaptable, and wellness-oriented Addictions Support Staff to join our front-line team. The Support Staff play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the facility, assisting clients with holistic care, and ensuring the overall safety and cultural integrity of the Centre's healing environment.
This position supports both program staff and clients during regular operations and is responsible for a blend of client care, administrative documentation, meal preparation, and facility upkeep. It is ideal for someone passionate about Indigenous wellness, trauma-informed care, and working within a culturally grounded treatment setting.
Key Responsibilities: Client Support & Supervision
Provide daily assistance to clients with personal care needs, emotional support, and program navigation.
Offer one-on-one support to clients who require additional attention or care.
Monitor and engage with clients during group programming, mealtimes, chores, and free time.
Supervise clients during community outings, appointments, or land-based activities, ensuring safety and respectful behavior.
Assist in client aftercare planning, including referrals, discharge preparation, and support transition planning.
Any other job related duties as outlined by FHC Manager/ FHC CEO.
Team & Program Support
Assist Program Facilitators during group sessions with setup, note-taking, or co-facilitation as appropriate.
Provide general support to Administrative staff and other team members as needed.
Communicate effectively with clinical and admin teams regarding client progress, needs, and incidents.
Attend and contribute to team meetings, case conferences, and shift debriefings.
Documentation & Records
Complete daily documentation and case notes in WIND/CARE system or hardcopy files as required.
Maintain accurate logs of client activities, behaviors, incidents, and participation.
Support the confidentiality and accuracy of all client records and Centre documentation.
Ensure that all Accreditation Standards are maintained throughout the facility.
Meal Preparation & Support
Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks in accordance with dietary needs and health standards.
Follow safe food handling procedures and assist with kitchen clean-up.
Help clients with meal routines and support those with special dietary requirements.
Facility & Housekeeping Duties
Support with daily chores and cleanliness of the facility including laundry, tidying, and room checks.
Assist in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and culturally respectful environment.
Report maintenance or safety issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Cultural & Wellness Activities
Support and participate in traditional and cultural activities such as smudging, drumming, or land-based teachings, etc.
Encourage and model wellness practices in alignment with FHC's vision and cultural protocols.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; additional training in Addictions, Social Work, or Human Services is an asset.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a residential, treatment, or support setting.
Familiarity with NNADAP program standards and culturally safe approaches to care.
Basic knowledge of addiction recovery, trauma-informed practice, and mental health support.
Proficiency or willingness to learn documentation software (e.g., WIND/CARE).
Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional maturity.
Ability to handle sensitive or crisis situations calmly and respectfully.
Additional Requirements:
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (must be submitted prior to employment).
Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Food Handlers Certification is an asset or must be obtained shortly after hire.
Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
Availability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends or holidays.
Conduct any other job-related duties as assigned by FHC Manager/FHC CEO.
Assets (Preferred but Not Required):
Experience working in an Indigenous organization or treatment program.
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, healing practices, and wellness models.
Ability to speak or understand an Indigenous language.
Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, or ASIST.
