As a member of an interdisciplinary Addiction and Mental Health Crisis Team in Fort McMurray, you will effectively provide crisis intervention and support to individuals presenting to Emergency Department and admitted to medical units with primary addiction and/or mental health concerns by efficiently screening, assessing, triaging, consulting, and referring the patient to the appropriate resources, clinicians and healthcare professionals. The position requires the ability to work independently with occasional review, consultation and evaluation from a Manager or Supervisor. The incumbent must work independently with a high degree of judgment and must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team and commit to strengthening team dynamics by actively facilitating inter-professional collaboration to enhance patient health outcomes. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.
