Your Opportunity:

Addiction Services Edmonton (ASE) is an outpatient clinic located within Edmonton\'s inner city. We provide addiction and mental health services to individuals, couples, and families who have been impacted by Addictions and Mental Health. This clinic offers walk-in screening/assessment, individual addiction counselling, group support and treatment, psychiatry, and a 3-week day treatment program. This Addiction Counselor will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides quality client-focused, recovery-orientated, and concurrent capable care to individuals within Addiction and Mental Health. The successful candidate will provide a range of services including intake screening, assessment, care planning, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, and group facilitation.

Description:

As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a bachelor\'s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a bachelor\'s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor\'s degree in a related field with coursework in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. A minimum of 3 years of community Mental Health and Addictions experience. Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Preferred Qualifications:

A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Training and experience in evidence-informed counselling methods.
