Addictions Counsellor - Project CHOICES

a program designed to reduce the risk of alcohol-exposed pregnancies (AEP) through harm reduction, trauma-informed care.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled

Addictions Counsellor

with a strong background in

Motivational Interviewing

and

trauma-informed practice

to deliver Project CHOICES. The successful candidate will work with

male-identifying and non-binary youth and adults

in various settings, including community sites and external partner locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver Project CHOICES programming using a harm reduction and person-centered lens

Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage participants in open, supportive conversations

Provide trauma-informed support tailored to the unique needs of participants

Travel to multiple sites and partner organizations to facilitate sessions

Build rapport and collaborate with external collaterals and service providers

Participate in team meetings and ongoing training related to addictions and trauma-informed practice

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Addictions Counselling, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, , Psychology, or related field

Certification or formal training in

Motivational Interviewing

is strongly preferred

Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (travel required)

Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (or willingness to obtain)

Contract Details:

Part-time position: 18.5 hours per week

1-year contract, with possibility of extension based on funding and program needs

Flexible schedule required for outreach and travel to various locations
