Your Opportunity:
The Lethbridge Youth Treatment Program is seeking to recruit an Addictions Counselor III to join our multidisciplinary team working with young people (ages 12-17) and their families in an in-patient treatment environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with clients using a recovery model approach to develop therapeutic goals that address problematic substance use, improve mental health, and enhance individual and family functioning. Working directly on the front line in the treatment centre, the Addictions Counselor will provide individual and group counselling, day-to-day skill building, role modeling, and adult supervision to youth residing in the program. To meet the needs of a live-in treatment environment, this position requires availability during daytime hours, as well as evenings and weekends. Description:
As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. Additional Required Qualifications:
Class IV license required within 6 months of hiring date. First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention. Preferred Qualifications:
Any outdoor, watersport or climbing certification. One year experience providing care to Youth in a bed-based care setting. One year experience providing care to individuals with addictions.
