This opportunity supports Correctional Health Services in an in-person role at the Calgary Remand Centre. The position is based on-site within the facility and is part of a dedicated clinical Addictions Mental Health team. Our close-knit clinical team emphasizes collaborative practice in this unique and challenging clinical setting. Reporting to the Health Care Services Manager for Calgary Remand Centre, the Addiction Counsellor III provides specialized assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education, and referral services to a diverse offender population. The Addiction Counsellor III's role is to provide brief, solution-focused counselling services to help clients navigate their recovery goals using a trauma-informed, client-focused, strength-based approach to practice. This is a dynamic role that requires adaptability, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work in a challenging and potentially high-risk environment. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.
