PLEA Community Services is currently seeking a Casual On-Call Addiction Support Worker for our Waypoint team. The proposed start date for this position is as soon as possible. This position requires BCGEU membership.
The participants who access these services have significant substance misuse issues, considerable involvement in the criminal justice system, and complex personal and social needs that require a heightened level of support, supervision, and specialized services. The Addiction Support Worker is responsible for planning, developing and implementing one-to-one activities with the participant that are consistent with the goals identified in their service plans, address their immediate needs, support their efforts to make safer choices, and strengthen their life skills and protective factors; and facilitating a range of group treatment programming.
PLEA Community Services is permitted by the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal to exclusively hire men for Addiction Support Worker positions in the Waypoint Program.
Position Type: Casual On-Call
Location: Surrey, BC
Hours of Work: The selected candidate must provide shift availability to their manager every second Monday. The availability for the two-week period must include at least one 7-hour shift per two-week period. Assigned shifts will be up to 7 hours in length and will be either a day or evening shift.
Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor of Arts in the social sciences or human services or a related discipline, and at least one (1) year recent experience working in programs with individuals who are deemed to be high risk, and/or involved in the justice system, and involved in harmful substance use, and their families/caregivers.
