Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinics

provide barrier free support to individuals seeking support for their substance related concerns.


The Addiction Counsellor will work with an interprofessional team to provide assessments, brief counselling, recovery planning and treatment referrals as well as facilitate psychoeducational and early recovery based groups.


To best support patients, the Addiction Counsellor will work in multiple RAAM clinic sites as scheduled, therefore travel may be required to various RAAM clinic sites including Barrie, Midland, Orillia and Wasaga Beach.


Education:




Degree or Diploma in Health or Social Science field required College certificate in Addiction Studies from recognized institution required Certification as an Addiction Counsellor (International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (ICAD) or Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC) preferred Membership with a relevant college/registering body considered an asset Basic First Aid and CPR certifications required GAINS Q3 certification considered an asset

Experience:




Minimum 3 years direct care experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and mental health problems

Understanding of trauma, social determinants of health and addictions Demonstrates a non-judgmental attitude towards clients and demonstrates knowledge of positive client change Communicates with others honestly, respectfully and sensitively Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, community partners and represent the Health Centre in a professional manner at all times Demonstrated sound interpersonal, team development and conflict management skills Knowledge and skill in group facilitation and group dynamics
VII. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) and health record systems (Meditech)
Makes decisions in alignment with organizational values and strategic directions Supports and adapts to change and contributes to quality improvement opportunities

Other:




Self-identify as having Indigenous ancestry is considered an asset Understanding of First Nation, Metis and Inuit history, culture, health determinants, and perspectives on health and well-being Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle Ability to work some evening/weekend shifts as required * Perform other duties as assigned by manager
