About the Role



We welcome applications from qualified individuals from all backgrounds. We are looking for a curious, self-motivated, and well-rounded individual to join us as an Actuarial Analyst. The selected candidate will be a vital member of the Valuation team. You will work directly with the Head of Valuation on key valuation and financial reporting initiatives. This role will give you a unique opportunity to learn the reinsurance and retrocession business, work with other functional areas within the Company, and gain valuable experience in modelling and reserving under regulatory standards in multiple jurisdictions (e.g. Canada, US, and Europe) including IFRS 17, Solvency II, US Statutory/Tax and US GAAP LDTI (Long-Duration Targeted Improvements).

The Company has an Actuarial Analyst Development Program that provides support for actuarial exams.

Job Responsibilities

(includes but not limited to):

Take ownership of the quarterly valuation and reserve movement analysis of NAIC, Tax and Solvency II; explain and present the quarterly results to the manager; Support annual valuation processes such as the NAIC Asset Adequacy Testing, Annual NAIC statement exhibits and audits; Implement assumption changes in the AXIS valuation model; Identify and implement AXIS model refinements as well as general AXIS and non-AXIS process improvements; Assist with special projects to enhance financial and capital management capabilities of the Company; and Maintain procedural documentation and ensure that processes have appropriate controls to comply with actuarial guidelines.

What you will bring to the role:



Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related field; Experience at a life (re)insurance or consulting is a plus; Completed at least 3 Society of Actuaries exams; Proficiency and working experience with Moody's AXIS liability modules is an asset; Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel); Knowledge of other programming languages and BI tools is an asset (e.g. R, Power BI, Python); Detail oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills Strong teamwork and communication skills, and self-directed in independent work
