The Position:
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, conducting and assisting residents and staff with educational, social, recreational and wellness needs. The Activity Coordinator will organize or help organize programs, as well as assist residents to and from planned programs. The Activity Coordinator will at times work closely with the Tenant Services Coordinator and have the ability to assume the responsibilities of the Tenant Services Coordinator when requested. Hours of work may not be limited to day shifts as some activities and programs may require evening or weekend shifts.

The Applicants:
Applicants would typically qualify for this position with:
Grade 12
Post-secondary experience in a related discipline (ie: Therapeutic Recreation Diploma, Kinesiology Degree, etc.)
Valid driver's license and clear driver's abstract
Previous experience working with seniors preferably in a recreation programming capacity
Sufficient experience to satisfactorily perform responsibilities of the position
Excellent administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills
Established ability to work effectively with seniors
Proficient in word processing, and spreadsheets including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Successfully demonstrates sensitivity, patience and concern in providing quality service to residents
Positively adapts to change and seeks out opportunities for quality improvement
Effectively works with residents, committees, contractors and other departments of LCC
Effectively manages time, and priorities while positively responding to multiple interruptions through the day
Consistently displays independence and initiative.
Consistently able to develop creative and inventive programs with limited resources
Demonstrable knowledge of principles of Gerontology
Willingness to operate the bus
