ACTIVITY ASSISTANT

(Part Time, shifts include evening and Saturdays)

Seniors Life Enhancement Centres (SLEC) is a progressive non-profit Adult Day Program providing services for individuals who have cognitive impairments, frail health, and/or physical disabilities. SLEC is located in Oakville (Winston-Churchill Blvd and the QEW) serving residents from across the Mississauga and Halton Regions.

Are you passionate about serving older adults in the community? Have a deep understanding of how important social recreational support is to overall health? Then this opportunity is for you! SLEC is seeking creative, motivated activity professionals to join our team!

What You Will Do:

Reporting to the Program Coordinator and according to established expectations for service excellence consistent with SLEC\xe2\x80\x99s Policies and Procedures, Activity Assistants work as part of the team to:

  • Plan, implement and participate in a variety of therapeutic, social and recreational activities to meet the needs of clients
  • Assists clients in performing Activities of Daily Living
  • Client care planning and documentation
  • Communicate effectively with the team members, clients, volunteers and caregivers
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Diploma or certificate in recreation, social service worker, personal support worker or equivalent
  • Minimum one year previous experience in a related health field
  • Passion & focus on the person centred approach
What Will Set You Apart:
  • Previous work experience in the Gerontology field
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach Certificate
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Knowledgeable in general computer use including but not limited to: Google Workspace, and Video Conferencing applications such as Zoom and Google Meets
