Glen Hill Strathaven - 158 bed Long Term Care facility is currently recruiting for casual Certified Activity Aides



POSITION SUMMARY



Reporting to the Program Manager, the Activity aide will provide recreation activities to residents according to their assessed needs. The Activity Aide will work in collaboration with all other clinical care providers to optimize the residents' experience.

The Activity aide is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values and employee guiding principles, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.

Summary of General Duties and Responsibilities:



Provides for recreation and leisure activities including outings in accordance with established policy, physician's orders, the resident plan of care and within the scope of practice; Contributes to and sustains a plan of care to meet residents' assessed need; Assist in planning for assigned resident area activity calendars in accordance with the care plan goals and preferences of the residents on each home area; Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records of care delivered, documentation, program development, program delivery; Demonstrates a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of care; Follows all corporate policies and procedures; contributes to the development of site specific recreation therapy policies as indicated; Ensures that thorough evaluation of assessments, intervention plans, program development and program delivery is consistently being completed to ensure the efficacy of recreation services; Identifies appropriate therapeutic recreation goals and interventions on the care plans of identified residents; Expectation of commitment to professional development to be demonstrated on an on- going basis both personally and professionally in relation to therapeutic recreation and staying current with the trends in the industry; Seeks direction from the Program Manager when resident need exceeds experience or scope of practice. Maintains personal accountability for completion of monthly audits as assigned. Knows and interprets MOHLTC legislation, regulation and process; Contributes to the implementation of processes and systems to ensure compliance to all standards on an on-going basis.

Qualifications:



Diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies, therapeutic recreation from a recognized college or university; 2 years' experience in a long term care setting preferred Good oral and written communication skills; Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment; Knowledge of programming needs for older adults diagnosed with dementia; Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends; Basic computer skills Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including 3rd booster, or equivalent in accordance with our COVID-19 Immunization Program Successful candidate will be required to have a current police check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
