We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a retirement community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors through creative and supportive activities. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on residents' well-being by fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical activity. The Activity Assistant will work closely with staff and residents to plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational programs tailored to residents' needs and interests.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and lead daily activities that promote socialization, cognitive engagement, and physical movement for residents. Adapt activities to accommodate residents with varying levels of ability, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments. Foster a warm, welcoming environment that encourages participation from all residents. Assist residents during activities to ensure safety and enjoyment. Maintain activity supplies and ensure the activity area is clean and organized. Document resident participation and provide feedback on activity effectiveness to the care team. Support residents in developing new skills or hobbies that enhance their overall quality of life.

Experience

Prior experience working with seniors is preferred. Experience working with seniors or dementia care is highly desirable. Background in caregiving or related fields demonstrates a strong foundation for understanding resident needs. Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging residents effectively and collaborating with team members. Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in improving the lives of seniors and individuals requiring special care.
