Position Summary





Job Duties/Responsibilities



Under the direction of the Head Custodian, this position is responsible for the operation of the heating and mechanical equipment, as well as performing assigned custodial duties. In the absence of the Head Custodian and when there is no Charge Hand on duty, this position is in charge of custodial staff and functions.

performing and/or organizing all cleaning duties adhering to floor care maintenance procedures specific to the school location maintaining the building and the heating and mechanical equipment supervising and training custodial staff maintaining the security of the building assisting with coordination of the school's health and safety program assisting building tenants, parents and members of the community performing administrative duties moving furniture (setting-up and removing furniture for school functions) removing snow


Education/Qualifications



high school diploma a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience including supervision valid Building Operator B Certificate or 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate related custodial training

Skills and Abilities



demonstrated ability to perform all custodial functions demonstrated knowledge of and ability to effectively operate heating and mechanical systems demonstrated knowledge of cleaning products and disinfecting procedures demonstrated knowledge of and ability to effectively operate and perform minor routine maintenance on all power equipment demonstrated knowledge of health and safety, fire and security protocols demonstrated knowledge of safe chemical management practices demonstrated knowledge of basic spill clean-up procedures for blood spills and minor chemical spills demonstrated ability to plan and organize ability to meet the physical demands of the position proven ability to mentor, supervise, and train custodial staff strong verbal and written communication skills
demonstrated ability to use a variety of Division software programs





Rate of Pay



$29.54 per hour

Nature of Work



Hours of Work: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

THIS POSITION IS TERM-DEFINITE TO JULY 24, 2026




The successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete the related occupational health and safety courses as required by the employer.
