Job Description

Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. The division is unique in that it is surrounded by a multitude of lakes, golf courses and trails that appeal to an active, outdoor lifestyle while still being in close proximity to larger urban centers.


Many schools within Aspen View are geographically located to allow beginning teachers to meet the requirements of the Northern Student Teacher Bursary and/or Northern Alberta Development Council bursaries


H.A. Kostash School, located in the town of Smoky Lake, provides educational programming to approximately 395 students from Early Learning to Grade 12.

The ideal candidates will:




Have a proven record of successful teaching Model a dynamic, collaborative management style in an environment that interacts positively with all educational stakeholders: Have the ability to create a culture of high expectations for students and staff: Have demonstrated success in promoting student engagement and capturing student voice; Have experience working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit students; Have knowledge and experience working with systemic literacy programs; Have knowledge of inclusive education; Have a keen interest in fine arts programming; Actively embody the seven dimensions of the Principal Quality Standards; Integrate effective use of technology into teaching, learning and leadership; Promote and initiate global citizenship and service learning projects.
This position will commence with the start of the 2025-2026 school year on August 21, 2025.
