Location:

Innovation, Collections and Technology, Central Library. Position will provide system-wide support.

Job Summary:




This position reports to the Manager, Innovation, Collections & Technology (ICT), and is responsible for ordering, receiving, invoicing and processing all physical and digital library material in an Integrated Library System (ILS) environment. Monitors vendor performance, creates, and resolves claims. Monitors collection budget expenditures. Performs maintenance functions of the ILS Acquisitions module.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Acquisitions Liaises with vendors to receive and distribute current information required for selection and purchasing and to complete necessary adjustments to orders; Creates and submits purchase orders for Automatic Release Plan (ARP), subscription, standing and discretionary order requests for all library material; Creates and edits bibliographic and holdings records, as necessary; Receives materials, verifies invoices and releases invoices for payment; Provides materials for processing to the Shelver for distribution of new materials, based on department priorities; Creates, monitors, and resolves claims to vendors for defective, damaged or missing material and issues with invoices, cancellations, credits, standing orders and prepayments. Creates regular reports to monitor vendor performance. Reports and resolves performance issues with vendors. Maintains an inventory of necessary processing supplies and distributes supplies to vendors. Receives and channels shipments within the department and throughout the library system. Performs specific maintenance functions of the ILS Acquisitions module. Customer Service and Access Modelling and providing service excellence in all interactions with the public Communicating effectively with a variety of audiences and individuals from diverse backgrounds; Providing readers' advisory, reference, library orientation, patron guidance, research support and membership updates; Performs other related duties as assigned that are in accordance with job responsibilities or necessary to library system objectives. Development Collaborating with the Manager and team members; Sharing information with other staff regarding the Acquisitions related modules of the ILS; Attending conferences, participating in workshops, researching relevant literature and actively networking to ensure awareness in trends and advancements in the field; Participating in team meetings to communicate portfolio priorities and project updates; Working collaboratively with staff to increase awareness and usage of the collection; Fostering and maintaining positive working relationships with library staff.

Qualifications:



Library Technician Diploma or equivalent; Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and inventory systems, including ordering, receiving invoicing, claims, budgets and reports; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Ability to work accurately, efficiently, logically, and independently; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Clean Criminal Records Check within 90 days of employment.

Hours of Work:




70 hours bi-weekly. Includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends as required. The term of this temporary position will be 12 months, to replace a parental leave. This term may be extended to 18 months.

Hourly Rate:




$25.820 - $30.200 per hour (Pay Group 4, July 2024 FT schedule)
