Job Description

Delta Marine Service is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their dynamic team.

The Accounting Manager will provide leadership in the on-going development and monitoring of the financial management system, as well as ensure timely reporting of complete and accurate financial information. The successful candidate will need to be very hands-on, overseeing daily aspects of the accounting activities with strong leadership and teambuilding skills. The person we are looking for will be a strong, organized, dedicated, flexible and forward-thinking individual with a high level of integrity. We're looking for that 'go-to' person that is not only analytical and inquisitive but is very comfortable performing a wide variety of tasks and is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done.

Responsibilities:



Manages and completes all accounting and finance functions including AP/AR, payroll and bank reconciliations Develops a high standard of excellence to create a culture of continuous process improvement to drive efficiency and effectiveness Strong bookkeeping acumen and QuickBooks Desktop expertise; 3-5 years of experience preferred Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions in a timely manner Maintains accurate financial records and ensures timely month-end and year-end reporting Oversees all purchase orders, invoice verification and payments Manages the reconciliation of bank accounts and all other ledger accounts monthly Administers sales tax (GST/PST*) filings and payments
Handle foreign exchange transactions and global cash transfers Strong Excel and Word knowledge in formatting, data entry, and configuration Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions Ensures proper, timely payment of fees for licenses, permits, regulatory contracts and insurance policies Gains an in-depth understanding of the business processes and accounting functions of the company Reviews billing, labor and accounts payable data in general ledger Prepare journal entries, including monthly accruals, site allocations, etc. Resolves any problems and correct errors Prepares various management accounting reports as needed (including complete financial statements) for monitoring of operating trends, margin analysis, etc. Supports annual audits and budgeting processes, including 5-year forecast Works with other managers on accounting related projects and issues Ensures compliance with internal controls, accounting processes and regulatory requirements Maintains and files WCB reports and payroll summary quarterly Collaborate cross-functionally on accounting-related projects Assists in identifying and implementing operational and cost efficiencies Lead or support accounting system upgrades and conversions Provide monthly reports

Skills & Qualifications:



Minimum 5 years in an accounting role Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) Diploma or degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation is an asset Experience and knowledge of marine repairs and sales is an asset Understanding of Canadian tax laws Thorough knowledge of all jobs in accounting, purchasing, and systems management Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Excel/Word Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and customers to maximize performance, problem solving and results Must have excellent follow up and tracking skills Strong communication skills, leadership, and problem-solving skills Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates high integrity High Level of proficiency in English Language Ability to work at the Delta Marine office

Pay: $65,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
