to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our growing security services company. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident working independently with minimal supervision.
This role requires prior bookkeeping experience and a strong understanding of Canadian accounting practices. Experience working with service-based businesses or payroll-heavy environments is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounts Receivable/Payable Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Record daily financial transactions (
accounts payable and receivable
)
Process and reconcile invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and payments
Manage accounts payable, including vendor statements and payment schedules
Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and follow-ups
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Prepare payroll entries and support payroll processing
Track employee hours, deductions, benefits, and remittances
Prepare and file GST and other required government remittances
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
Generate financial reports (profit & loss, balance sheets, cash flow statements)
Maintain organized digital and physical financial records
Communicate with management regarding financial discrepancies or concerns
Support external accountants and auditors as required
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience

Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting best practices
Experience with Quickbooks Online
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic office software
Knowledge of Canadian payroll and tax requirements
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong time-management and organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Preferred Assets
Experience in a service-based or security industry environment
Payroll experience involving multiple employees and shift-based staffing
Post-secondary education in accounting or bookkeeping (certificate or diploma)
