Position Title
Accounts Payable Technician II
Position Summary
Red Deer Polytechnic is currently seeking a term-certain (16 months) full-time Accounting Technician to join our team. The Accounts Payable Technician II provides critical support to Finance by coordinating accounts payable operations, purchasing card and centralized travel programs as well as preparing and processing accounts payable transactions for the institution. This position actively contributes to the protection of the polytechnic's assets and limits the risk of fraud and financial loss by using analytical skills and applying diligent financial controls.
Position Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible forVendor invoice processing
Regular weekly payment processing
Miscellaneous types of payments
Purchasing card and single use payment card programs
Travel program management
Expense reporting and disclosure
System testing related to AP
Managing year-end cut off processes for AP,
Withholding tax on payments to non-resident vendors,
Any one-time and recurring projects in AP.
Required Qualifications
Diploma from Business Admin or Accounting program
Three to five years of related experience
Knowledge and understanding of GAAP, PSAS, Income Tax and Excise Tax Acts as they apply to AP processes and transactions
Experience working in an integrated financial system
Proficiency with MS office suite
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional communication skills
Excellent planning and time management skills
Attention to detail, accuracy and consistency
Ability to work autonomously within a highly collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public-sector or post-secondary institution
Previous experience with Accounts Payable
Experience with corporate card/purchasing card program management

Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory
