Job Description


We are seeking an Accounts Payable Team Lead to join our team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In this role, you will be overseeing the Accounts Payable team, ensuring efficient payment processes within the organization. This role involves a variety of responsibilities from team leadership to process improvements.Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Accounts Payable team through reviewing, training, and coaching
  • Ensuring efficient vendor set-up in compliance with internal controls
  • Supervising the data entry of invoice information by the AP team and ensuring invoices are appropriately approved and entered into the accounting system
  • Overseeing the accurate preparation of invoice batches to be paid and managing payment runs such as cheques, EFTs, bill payments, wire transfers, and credit cards
  • Organizing and retaining documentation for quick reference and audit support
  • Professionally addressing and following up on queries from internal clients and vendors regarding late or missing payments
  • Implementing process improvements to streamline activities and reduce missed or late payments
  • Completing month-end procedures for accounts payable sub-ledger and general ledger reconciliation
  • Handling bank transactions including bill payment processing, inter transfer, and ACH payment
  • Preparing and maintaining monthly audit working files for AP Aging, Accrued Liabilities, AP clearing Account and other Accounts Payable related continuity schedules.
  • Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role, preferably as a Team Lead.
  • Proficiency in account coding is required.
  • Familiarity with various accounting software systems is essential.
  • Experience with ADP - Financial Services is a necessity.
  • Knowledge of Concur software is desirable.
  • Should possess strong data processing skills.
  • Understanding of general accounting functions is necessary.
  • Experience in handling accounts payable (AP) is required.
  • Knowledge of accrual accounting is desirable.
  • Experience in auditing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Automated Clearing House (ACH) operations is a plus.
