Accounts Payable Officer

Employment Terms: Full-Time, 11-Month Contract

The Opportunity:

Working as a member of the Business Office team and reporting to the Accountant, the Accounts Payable Officer will have responsibility for supporting a range of accounting functions and providing some administrative support as required to the Business Office.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing of supplier invoices for payment including:
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely recording and payment of suppliers\xe2\x80\x99 invoices;
  • Entering and processing of all approved invoices into the A/P system;
  • Issuing of supplier cheques//EFT/AP payments in both Canadian and US dollars;
  • Posting of necessary journal entries;
  • Posting entries to the general ledger;
  • Reconciling of general ledger account to the sub ledger;
  • Customer relations related to the invoices and payments as requested;
  • Reviewing outstanding cheque list for stale dated cheques;
  • Reconcile the School Visa for payment;
  • Provide assistance as required to the Business Office team as directed by the Accountant.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business management, finance or other related fields along with 2-3 years \xe2\x80\x98s progressive experience with a focus on Accounts Payable;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on service orientation;
  • Effective time-management skills;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize in a busy environment;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable software would be an asset;
  • Experience working with a variety of databases;
  • Experience working with Financial Edge and a non-profit organization would be an asset.

Target Hiring Range: $45,100 - $56,300 (pro-rated based on the duration of the contract)
