Job Description


Job Purpose: Reporting to the Asst. Controller and VP of Finance, the Accounting Technician is responsible for providing financial, payroll, administrative & clerical services for the Finance team. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Accounting

  • Assist in the management of the accounting cycle.
  • Assist in the processing of payment for both EFT and Cheque as required.
  • Review of department-approved invoices and purchase transactions for accurate invoice totals, account coding, and GST allocations
  • Data entry of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Ensuring all activities are completed using agreed systems and processes with accuracy.
  • Respond & assist with vendor account inquiries.
  • Use bookkeeping databases, spreadsheets, and software such as Microsoft Excel and Word, QuickBooks.
  • Assist in the preparation and reporting of GST, Corporate tax, Excise tax and payroll remittances.
  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries and reconciling accounts and completing month-end closings.
  • Prepare received on account cheque deposits and perform bank runs.
  • Employee may be required to perform additional job functions beyond the description as requested by management.
Payroll
  • Prepare and process full cycle hourly and salary bi-weekly payrolls, including off-cycle bonus runs, payroll advances, and terminations.
  • Process ROE\xe2\x80\x99s, WCB and other payroll related services as required.
  • Assist with answering Payroll related questions and providing excellent customer service and guidance to employees on payroll and benefit related issues in collaboration with the Human resource Department.
  • Assist with oversight of payroll systems such as Dayforce and Powerpay.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
  • Minimum 2-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Payroll and Accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency with DayForce, Powerpay and QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of the Cannabis industry is a direct advantage but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly intermediate to advanced Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Good internal/external client orientation and good teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
