GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Accounting Technician keeps the financial heartbeat of our hotel running strong. This role is all about accuracy, accountability, and agility--balancing the details of financial statements, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and compliance. You'll work closely with the Regional Controller and General Manager to ensure financial clarity, while also supporting budget preparation, audits, and analysis that fuel smart decision-making.

WHO YOU ARE:
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in hospitality or an accounting position
OR a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field with 3+ years in hotel finance/accounting
Preferred Extras:
Experience with major brands (Marriott/Hilton/Accor/IHG/Hyatt)
Strong knowledge of accounting policies and financial procedures
Flexible with working hours to meet deadlines
Confident communicator who inspires trust and collaboration
Bilingual (English/French)
Pre-opening/opening experience (a big plus!)
Familiarity with FOSSE, MICROS, Employer D, Adaco, and MS Office

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Daily Energy:
Record and reconcile daily deposits, including credit cards
Ensure daily income is reviewed and corrected on a daily basis
Monitor purchase orders, prepare payments, and keep things running smoothly
Review and follow up with department heads on accounting issues
Jump into executive committee and department head meetings with insight and enthusiasm
Monthly Flow:
Maintain the complete accounting cycle in a centralized environment
Verify adjustments and promotional/meal accounts
Perform routine follow-ups with customers, suppliers, department heads and the regional office
Ensure monthly inventory counts are completed in a timely manner, and costs meet budget benchmarks
Other Moves:
Support audits and ensure compliance standards are met
Assist with payroll. Ensure hours recorded for management and non-management are correct
Manage contracts and keep obligations up to date
Step into MOD shifts when needed (because at Moxy, teamwork is everything)
Bring fresh ideas to improve processes and support the General Manager with projects
REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to juggle priorities and stay calm under pressure
Strong numeracy and attention to detail
Proficiency in SAGE, MS Excel, and accounting software
Solid knowledge of auditing techniques and financial controls
A background in hospitality is preferred--because we're all about people and experiences
