Accounting Technician
with knowledge of the meat industry and some HR skills to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
? Perform full bookkeeping and accounting tasks: record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank statements, asset register.
? Prepare journal entries, month-end and year-end closes, and working papers for financial reports.
? Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports.
? Process payroll, deductions, remittances and keep employee payroll records.
? Administer HR-related record-keeping: employee timesheets, work hours tracking, leave records, benefits/pension contributions, and support in onboarding/offboarding employees.
? Support cost accounting and inventory valuation specific to meat processing (e.g. track production costs, waste, inventory of raw materials and finished goods, cost of goods sold).
? Assist with compliance: ensure accounting practices meet Canadian and provincial regulatory requirements; tax filings, GST/QST/HST remittances, and workplace-safety / labour compliance when required.
? Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial and HR data.
? Use accounting software and Excel for data entry, reporting, analysis.
? Communicate with internal departments (production, warehouse, operations) to reconcile costs, inventory, payroll, and labour data.
Requirements
Education & Certification:
? Bachelor diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent.
? Additional coursework or certification relevant to accounting/bookkeeping or payroll is an asset.
Experience:
? Minimum 2 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, ideally within the food industry, manufacturing, or meat/food-processing sector.
? Prior payroll and HR-related administrative experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
? Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
? Understanding of Canadian accounting standards, payroll regulations, tax remittances (CRA, Revenu Quebec), and labour laws relevant to food/processing industry.
? Ability to manage fixed assets, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and product-based costing.
Soft Skills:
? Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
? Very good organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
? Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to coordinate with operations, HR, and management.
? Integrity, discretion, ability to handle confidential financial and personnel information.

Technicien(ne) en comptabilite
pour soutenir nos operations financieres, incluant la comptabilite generale, la paie, l'administration RH et le controle des couts lies a l'industrie de la viande.
Principales responsabilites
? Effectuer la tenue de livres complete : comptes fournisseurs et clients, preparation et saisie des ecritures comptables, conciliations du grand livre et des releves bancaires
? Participer aux procedures de fin de mois et de fin d'exercice, preparer les dossiers de travail pour les rapports financiers
? Aider a la preparation des etats financiers et des rapports de gestion
? Traiter la paie, assurer la conformite des deductions et maintenir les dossiers de paie et RH des employes
? Soutenir les taches administratives en ressources humaines : suivi des heures, feuilles de temps, entrees/sorties des employes, dossiers d'employes, benefices, conges
? Realiser la comptabilite de couts, incluant l'evaluation des inventaires, le cout de revient, le suivi des pertes et de la production dans le secteur de la viande
? Assurer la conformite fiscale (TPS/TVQ), les remises gouvernementales et la preparation des documents lies aux audits internes et externes
? Collaborer avec les equipes de production et d'operations pour valider les couts, les inventaires et les donnees de main-d'oeuvre
? Maintenir l'integrite et la confidentialite des donnees financieres et de ressources humaines
? Utiliser quotidiennement les logiciels comptables ainsi que Microsoft Excel pour l'analyse et la production de rapports
Exigences du posteFormation
? Diplome d'baccalaureat en comptabilite, finance (obligatoire)
? Toute formation supplementaire en comptabilite, tenue de livres ou paie constitue un atout
Experience
? Minimum de
2 ans d'experience
pertinente en comptabilite ou tenue de livres
? Experience dans l'industrie alimentaire, manufacturiere ou plus specifiquement dans l'industrie de la viande
? Experience en paie et en administration RH
Competences techniques
? Maitrise des logiciels comptables
? Maitrise d'Excel : tableaux croises dynamiques, formules, verification de donnees
? Connaissance des normes comptables canadiennes, remises fiscales CRA/Revenu Quebec
? Competences en comptabilite de couts et gestion des inventaires dans le secteur alimentaire
Competences personnelles
? Sens du detail, rigueur, confidentialite
? Bonne gestion du temps, capacite a gerer plusieurs priorites
? Bonnes habiletes de communication avec les equipes internes (production, entrepot, administration)
? Capacite a travailler de facon autonome tout en collaborant efficacement en equipe
