Underhill Geomatics is seeking an

Accounting Technician

to join our dynamic team based in Burnaby. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in project cost accounting for a diverse portfolio of short and long term projects. Our team works dynamically with senior management to understand project and branch performance and support continuous improvements of both process and performance.

Our team works collaboratively to meet deadlines and highly values cross training. It is a core tool for assisting with vacation/sickness coverage and also for group learning.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Monthly high volume of invoicing for projects Regular accounts receivable follow up, coordinating with PMs to provide additional information as requested by the client Monitoring of contracts/budgets from an accounting perspective,helping project managers track remaining budget or change order requests Ad hoc reporting of project performance and financial analysis to project managers Other accounting duties (JEs, month end close, reconciliations) and projects will be assigned

Required Skills

Analytical & critical thinking skills Accurate data entry such as recording accounts payable and employee expenses Ability to learn independently and seek solutions Excellent attention to detail Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure with a high volume of tasks or competing priorities Effective communication and interpersonal skills Experience working in accounting software packages (eg. Deltek Vantagepoint) and Microsoft Office Experience with Power BI or similar would be an asset

Qualifications

Cost accounting or project accounting experience is mandatory Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3 or more years of experience in financial analysis or accounting Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Experience:

Cost accounting or project accounting: 3 years (required) financial analysis or accounting: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

diploma or advanced certificate in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
