About the Opportunity



Our practice is growing! We're now searching for an experienced

Accounting Technician

to join our friendly, dynamic, and multidisciplinary team. You'll enjoy the personal connection of a small firm and opportunities to make a meaningful difference to clients and our business. You'll work in the heart of a charming community situated in the beautiful Rocky Mountain foothills, just a 30-minute drive from Calgary and Cochrane.

A Typical Day



As an Accounting Technician, you'll work closely with clients and the accounting team to prepare comprehensive, tailored information in support of compilation, bookkeeping, and tax engagements. You'll be empowered to take ownership of the following responsibilities:

Assist with compilation, bookkeeping, and tax engagements, including preparation of financial statements. Prepare government remittances/filings, expenses, and payroll transactions. Set-up client files, assist with completion of budgets, and complete administrative planning. Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes. Maintain, monitor, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, inter-company and point of sale (POS)/system uploads. Identify and investigate discrepancies and collaborate with engagement leaders to resolve errors. Communicate with government representatives regarding information requests, assessments, and instalments. Assist with general administrative and bookkeeping tasks, as required.

About You



To be successful in this role, you will have:

A certificate or diploma in accounting, business administration, or commerce, or combination of equivalent education and experience. 2+ years of relevant accounting experience. Experience preparing tax statements and working knowledge of personal and corporate tax is an asset. Strong foundational knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes. Experience working with accounting and tax software is an asset. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Total Rewards



$50,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience. 2 weeks paid vacation time. 1 week of paid flex time. Extended weekends (closed on Fridays) during July and August. Relaxed, business casual office environment. Free parking. Close proximity to local amenities.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (negotiable) Hours of Work: Averages 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm (overtime is required during peak season) Work Arrangement: In-Office
